The Honeybees centre has been mindfully & lovingly created
Our eco-friendly ethos and love for nature organically evolves through our daily rituals. The space lends itself to joyful, meaningful learning experiences. Nestled in the heart of Aucklands CBD, it truly is an oasis that must be seen to be believed.
Food
Our menu is carefully created to incorporate natural, nutritious ingredients which are locally sourced and delivered daily. We use whole foods and nutrient rich ingredients to offer well balanced meals. You can view a sample of our menu here: Our menu sample.
Play
We mindfully built a unique collection of resources that have been acquired from all over the world with the purpose of capturing your childs curiosity and growing their minds. We have focused on wooden toys that use natural oils, dyes, and beeswax to add colour. We have lots of natural materials so our children can interact with wood, stone, clay, textiles and plants.
Clean
We have carefully considered cleaning systems in place to minimise your childs contact with chemicals. We use Ecostore cleaning, laundry and kitchen products, and natural beeswax polish for furniture. We use our own vacuum cleaner and steam mop for the floors, ensuring no chemicals make their way in from outside cleaning agencies.
For disinfecting regular high touch points throughout the day we have the thymol based “Benefect Botanical” which is a hospital grade disinfectant EPA approved for use on Covid-19, this is less toxic than vinegar!
Sleep
We have a dedicated sleep room for our children who nap during the day. Our beds have been created using materials that are Greenguard Gold certified; this means the beds have met rigorous and comprehensive world standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) into indoor air. Our bedding is made of 100% organic cotton.
Toilet
We use ‘WaterWipes’ to ensure gentler cleansing of delicate skin. WaterWipes are 99.9% water (specially purified and softened), and a drop of grapefruit seed extract (a natural skin conditioner) – with no chemical additives. WaterWipes are the only baby wipe to ever be approved by Allergy UK and The National Eczema Association of America. We use Ecostore nappy balm.

Material
From the ceiling panels to the floorboards, the blinds, furniture and paint on the walls, every aspect of our fitout was completed with the lowest possible volatile organic compound (VOC) levels. Our rugs are 100% wool, our couches are leather not vinyl, pots are stainless steel, the crockery is porcelain. Children are especially susceptible to the effects of chemicals, so we endeavour to eliminate them from our everyday rituals as much as possible.
